Welcome to the Munchin Hedgehog family,
where every scoop is served with love and community spirit!
We’re the Kapytkas — a small Brookfield family who believes in dreaming big, working together, and making little moments sweet and memorable. We’re here to make Brookfield a little sweeter, one joyful scoop, treat, and hedgehog at a time.

Maxim (Max) Kapytka: Co-founder & day-to-day boss! Max handles the day-to-day operations alongside Yana and Tamara and is the face of the business. Packing a heavy entrepreneurial and creative punch, Max was just 15 when the shop opened! He takes credit for running the store social media, contributions such as negotiating the lease, masterminding the “Wall of Smiles” with photos of happy customers, and bringing the family together to create the “Ice-Cream Drip Wall,” which he surprised Kseniya with during the early days of renovations. (And yes, she cried like a baby when she saw it.) He’s also an active part of the Brookfield community and joins in many charity, school, and sporting events, representing all things Munchin!
Kseniya Kapytka: Max’s co-founder, big sister, designer partner-in-crime, and financial workhorse. As an artist and jeweler working full-time on Long Island, New York, Kseniya does as much as she can remotely and drives two hours one way whenever possible to help out at the shop in person. She created the hedgehog mascot, hand-drawing and later digitizing the logo alongside the theme, designing store advertisements, and developing this very website from scratch (hi!). She handles the financial and heavily digital side of things, occasionally helping out in the store, and defrosting the freezers at odd hours of the night or morning.
Yana Kapytka: Yana is the youngest of the three Kapytka children but just as much of a firecracker as the rest of them! When Yana first laid eyes on a rolled ice-cream machine as a small child, she wanted one installed in the garage so she could play around on it. As the Munchin Hedgehog dream became a reality, hers became a reality as well. She got the rolled ice-cream machine of her dreams and is now a self-taught pro at making delicious and beautiful creations from scratch alongside her big brother Max while customers watch along in real time.
Tamara Kapytka: Our rock! Mama Tamara is warm, sweet, and beloved by all who visit the shop. She loves to keep everything neat and tidy, serving scoops and smiles alongside Max and Yana every day of the week. In urgent moments when the shop runs out of ice cream faster than our guys can deliver it, she’ll pull through in a pinch and make emergency trips to all our local creameries, loading up her car to the brim with delicious sweet goodness – no matter the weather! Thank you for everything, Mom!
Serge Kapytka: Dad Serge is always available behind the scenes, ready to help in practical ways whenever and wherever needed. He was pivotal during the initial start-up and renovation stage of the shop, where his muscle, building, and handyman expertise were greatly appreciated in shaping the shop into its current appearance. And he was also the artistic mastermind behind the outdoor folding sign found standing outside the shop today, having built and painted it from scratch by hand. The creative spark runs through the entire family!
